Thanks to all the folks that worked on the trail this weekend. From the guy who got "first tracks" on the new "root route", I can say it was a job very well done!

Thanks for being so well informed about the leadville race. What about the other valley residents who performed so well. Annie Gonz, 3rd overall. Kevin Wilson, 1st in the 50 and over. The Merolt boys, Bob Jacobsen, and others. Oh yeah I finished in the top 20 also in front of Joel. It seems If your going to make comments about a race you should be better informed.

I heard from one of the two riders who dealt with the pickup truck. As they were coming through TLazy7, the truck pulled out right in front of them... the best choice for them seemed to be: pass on the left since they were going faster than the truck, then singlefile to the far right edge of the road, so the truck could safely pass them on the slight uphill rise after TL7. Instead of immediately passing, the truck was honking continuously. After that the truck passed, but then slowed down on the descent to Maroon Creek. The two cyclists were afraid to pass at this point...
Seems like this was a case of a driver not wanting to have the patience to deal with the bike race passing through. Next time around, the ACC should place some race in progress signs and a Marshal at TLazy7... That might be the best way to put in place some traffic calming measures.

Good thoughts Ed. We should consider going back to having a couple races in the Maroon and Castle valleys, as we used to do just a few years ago.

A great race with a large turnout. Maroon and Castle are 2 of the great road rides anywhere. I think we should have races on Maroon and Castle as well next season; casual riders are familiar with them and thereby less inhibited of racing them. I also think we could start the season a little later and go into early October, with Saturday races as we lose evening light. That may make it easier to accomodate the Missouri Heights race and attract a better turnout.
