Categories

You may change categories during the season (but your race points will not transfer across categories). You may also race in different categories for mountain and road. Unlike previous years you will keep your same number for any category you race in.

All categories are offered in both Mens and Womens categories (except Womens B – there is no Womens B category). See the rules page for our gender policy.


The A and B categories typically ride the longer course. 

A‐Open 
The highest level of competition. Experienced racing at the top amateur or professional levels.
The Womens A group typically starts and races with the Mens B group.
No age restriction.

B‐Advanced
Accomplished racers from advanced‐intermediate to expert levels.
There is no Womens B category.
No age restriction.


All categories other than A & B ride the standard course.

C‐Sport
New and intermediate racers. No age restriction.

Masters Categories
All racing levels welcome.
Masters may race in a younger Masters category or any of the A, B or C categories.

Masters 50+
Age 50 or older as of December 31 of the current year.

Masters 60+
Age 60 or older as of December 31 of the current year.

Masters 70+ 
Age 70 or older as of December 31 of the current year.

Masters 80+
Age 80 or older as of December 31 of the current year.


Junior Categories

High School, Grades 9th thru 12th
All racing levels welcome. Grade based on upcoming school year. Eligible to compete in all ACC races. High school racer ride the shortest adult course option.
High schoolers may only “race up” in the A categories (unlike previous years they are not eligible to race in the B or C categories).

Middle School, Grades 5th thru 8th
All racing levels welcome. Grade based on upcoming school year. Middle school racers ride the shortest adult course option.
Middle schoolers may “race up” in the High School category but the open roads restriction still applies.
Middle school age racers are not allowed to compete in mass-start road races on open roads. They are only eligible to participate in

  • Mountain Bike Races
  • Road Time Trials
  • Road Races on closed roads (ie Ride for the Pass, Woody Creek Crit)
