You may change categories during the season (but your race points will not transfer across categories). If you change categories you must request a new number from the race director (your number ties you to your category). You may also race in different categories for mountain and road.
All categories are offered in both Men’s and Women’s categories (except Women’s B – there is no Women’s B category). See the rules page for our gender policy.

WAVE STARTS (GENERALLY)
- Men’s A – Start in their own wave and race the longer courses
- Women’s A / Men’s B / Start together and race the longer courses
- All other categories – Start together and race the shorter courses
The wave order varies depending on the race (ie Men’s A isn’t always first). Specific start times will be listed on the race description pages.

LONG COURSE CATEGORIES
- A‐ Open
Experienced Racers.
Women’s A will start and race with the Men’s B wave.
Limited to those riders entering High School and older. - B‐ Advanced
Racers from advanced‐intermediate to advanced levels - Women’s A starts and races with the Mens’ B wave. There is no Women’s B category.
Limited to those riders entering High School and older.

SHORT COURSE CATEGORIES
C – Recreation
New and recreational racers.
Masters
All racing levels welcome. Masters may choose to race in the A or B categories instead.
- Masters 50+ (age 50 or older as of December 31 of the current year)
- Masters 60+ (age 60 or older as of December 31 of the current year)
- Masters 70+ (age 70 or older as of December 31 of the current year)
- Masters 80+ (age 80 or older as of December 31 of the current year)
Juniors
- High School, Grades 9th thru 12th
All racing levels welcome. Grade based on upcoming school year. Eligible to compete in all ACC races. High school racers ride the short course option unless they want to “race up” in the long course and race in the A or B categories. - Middle School, Grades 5th thru 8th
All racing levels welcome. Grade based on upcoming school year. Middle school racers ride the short course option or the new Mini MTB Course option. Middle school age racers are not allowed to compete in mass-start road races on open roads. They are only eligible to participate in:
– Mountain Bike Races
– Road Time Trials
– Road Races on closed roads (ie Ride for the Pass, Woody Creek Crit)
– Mini MTB course

Party Wave
New in 2023 is the Party Wave, we are affectionately calling the mullet ride. Leave the business to the racers in the front, and come party in the back! Lights, waiver and check in are required. This wave is obviously not timed.
Option to encourage young riders to get a taste for racing.
Elementary & Middle School, Grades 1st thru 8th.
All racing levels are welcome. Grade based on the upcoming school year.
